late night in barcelona. re-worked and looped in 2010.
the second side is made in 2003, just a nice collage of sounds i've used
but haven't recorded by myself.

"schwarz . schwarz belassen"
three inch cdr, 15 minutes
some selfmade and found sounds played on different tapeplayers
all together in the living room ...
the object is a sort of "materialstudie";
just to work with the orginal color of the black cardboard and that's it.
each object is around 46 x 15 cm,
using black cardboard, plaster, tape and different sorts of black pens
writing words carlfriedrich claus once reflect on klaus sobolewski work,
here in application to my own mood i had during last wintertime.

this is made in november 2009. a selfconversation about
how to work in future recordings, objects and releases, ...
ich empfinde das arbeiten an & mit tönen, sowie auch objekten
seit sehr langer zeit als sehr schwer denkbar, vorallem was eine
zielsetzung angeht.
deshalb dachte ich bis vor kurzem über eine arbeitsweise nach
die nicht mehr über den eigendlichen bestand des materials
hinaus etwas in szene setzen soll, was somit eine titelgebung
eventuell sogar überflüssig machen könnte (...)

"symmetric islands"

benjamin laurent aman is living in berlin,
orginally from rosieres aux salines (france).
working in the fields of installation since 2002 and music since 2007.
for this recordings he used the sounds of for example a wave generator,
producing very intimate, intense and playful sort of drone pieces.
one of his very best recordings so far !
this tape is published together with aman's exhibition "symmetric islands"
from june 5th to june 26, 2010 at projektwerkstatt in leipzig,
available there too within that time.

orginally recorded in 2003 and never published so far.
in my opinion, this sounds so different to all of my releases;
i always wasn't sure to release it within all those years.
the influence for the recording came from jan iwer's "a lesson to be
learned" cassette. the whole collage is just made with a sampler
and a found english lesson cassette.
the text at the cover came later, in 2009.
it's talking about my feelings to my own recordings;
the autonomy, isolation and foreigness i oftenÊfeel to them, ...
my own loss of pictures and memory for the moment of recording.

two of the recordings were made with two tapeplayers playing the
same recording of my voice, each in different way at the same time.

loss of feelings and ideas while and within my own recordings.
"(...) letzlich macht das ergebnis, oder schon das aufnehmen währendessen
aber etwas anderes aus der idee bzw. mu§ ich mich anstrengen die intention
fŸr mich selbst dorthin zu konstruieren. bei den aufnahmen (...) ist sehr schnell
der effekt eingetreten das ich die rythmik zwar beibehalten, aber von der intention
völlig abgekommen bin. ein denken an etwas anderes, irgendwo verbleiben wo
die eigendliche idee nicht mehr ist; auch ein überdenken genau dieses zustands
des abkommens von der idee. hin und her und quer und nochdazu auch diesen
zustand als wertvoll und integral erachten (...)"

go through a crisis on love and friendship, but also fictional.
the texts are readen and recorded as unlistenable as possible,
to show the heavy fact the topic have.
